Pratnashree Basu is an Associate Fellow at Observer Research Foundation, Kolkata, with the CNED programme. She is a 2017 US Department of State IVLP Fellow and is currently pursuing her Ph.D in International Relations at Jadavpur University. She works on maritime geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific with a focus on the South China Sea. Her work explores the political and functional dimensions of a rules-based maritime order and maritime law and governance.

She has also been Associate Editor and Coordinator of the South China Sea Monitor, China Weekly and South Asia Weekly — ORF’s bulletins collating the key issues and developments in these regions. Her recently published work includes - Sovereignty Vs. Sovereign Rights: De-escalating Tensions in the South China Sea, Unpacking the Indo-Pacific Template, Maritime India: The Quest for a Steadfast Identity; The Eastern Corridor and the Law of the Sea: Ensuring Sea-Lane Security.
