
Vivan was a visiting fellow at ORF, where he supports programmes on the ‘new economy’. Previously, as the CEO of ORF’s Global Governance Initiative, he engaged governments on diverse public policy areas. He also anchored several flagship programmes at ORF, including the Asian Forum on Global Governance, a policy school for young professionals. During this period, he aided the design and operation of India’s first carbon efficiency index, listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Vivan spends most of his time advising technology companies, international organisations, and government bodies, as a partner at Koan Advisory Group. Additionally, he mentors research and innovation start-ups and is on the boards of several philanthropic ventures.
Vivan started out in international financial markets as a trader. He studied economics at the University of Edinburgh and mathematics at St. Stephens College, University of Delhi. He writes for leading Indian newspapers including the Hindustan Times, Financial Express and The Mint; and is author of “Wonked: India in Search of an Economic Ideology”, published by Bloomsbury in 2019.
