Biplob Chatterjee

Biplob Chatterjee is the CEO and Director of Geovale Services and serves as Chair of the Sub-Committee on Critical Minerals under CII’s National Committee on Mining. A recipient of the National Mineral Award (1996), he is recognised as one of the world’s leading geologists. Over his 34-year career in the mining sector, he has served with ONGC (1984–85), the Geological Survey of India (1986–95), Rio Tinto (1995–2009), and HDR|Salva (2010–13). At Rio Tinto, he helped design the company’s successful exploration programme in Bundelkhand, which led to the discovery of the Bunder Diamond Deposit. As co-founder of Geovale Services, he leads a team of consultants providing expertise in mineral exploration, mine planning, hydrogeology, and mining health and safety across global markets.
