Rear Admiral Monty Khanna was commissioned into the Indian Navy in Jan 83. He won the `Best Naval Cadet’ award and Midshipman `Sword of Honor’ during his formative years. His afloat commands include the submarine Sindhuvijay and the Frigates Krishna and Gomati. He was also the Naval Attaché at the Embassy of India, Washington D.C. On promotion to Flag Rank, he was appointed as the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Co-operation & Intelligence). He was the Commandant of the Naval War College from Jan 14 to Nov 17 where he conceived and executed the first Goa Maritime Conclave. He thereafter served as Chief Instructor, Defence Services Staff College till his retirement in Aug 19. He subsequently served as the Assistant Military Adviser at the National Security Council Secretariat in New Delhi from Dec 19 till Dec 23. During this period, he officiated as the Military Adviser for over eight months. He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Naval War College, Newport.
