About the talk

In the wake of the current economic developments, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Naya Pakistan vision faces strong headwinds. The recently elected Imran Khan government must take up the task of navigating through the International Monetary Fund’s bail out conditions – while balancing the country’s commitment to the Chinese Belt and Road project. Pakistan’s economic story is now inextricably linked to the geopolitical tug-of-war between the US and China. The talk, by Aparna Pande, Director, Initiative on the Future of India and South Asia, Hudson Institute, will focus on the implications of this geo-political play on Pakistan’s economy, the future of the CPEC as the BRI’s flagship project and on the region at large.
