India-Russia: Enablers and limits

Russia occupies an important place in India’s foreign policy. As special and privileged strategic partners, both countries cooperate in political, military-technical, economic, scientific and cultural spheres. However, perceptions of a drift in the relationship are now gaining pace.

This talk is aimed at promoting an understanding of the drivers of Russia’s foreign policy with particular focus on India-Russia ties.


Petr Topychkanov is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for International Security at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO RAN). He is also a Research Fellow at Carnegie Moscow Center’s Nonproliferation Program.

Nandan Unnikrishnan, Vice President and Senior Fellow, ORF, will moderate the discussions.
