Ingvild Bode

Dr Ingvild Bode is Associate Professor at the Centre for War Studies, University of Southern Denmark. She is the Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded project AutoNorms which investigates how practices related to autonomous and AI technologies in weapon systems change international norms. Ingvild also serves as the co-chair of the IEEE Research Group on issues of AI and Autonomy in Defence Systems. Her work has been widely published in the form of journal articles, books with leading publishers, and policy reports. Her most recent policy report, Loitering Munitions and Unpredictability: Autonomy in Weapon Systems and Challenges to Human Control, co-authored with Dr Tom Watts, offers a detailed examination of one particular type of weapon system integrating autonomous and AI technologies in targeting.
