Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of demonetisation of high-value currencies, ₹500 and ₹1,000, has taken the nation by storm. While difficulties in implementation remain, the full impact of demonetisation on black money, counterfeit currency and consequent improvement of the Indian economy — GDP growth and development spending — remain to be realised.
