Britain is the first country to leave the European Union. While it will try to retain the benefits of the common market while restricting immigration from the EU, there is no clear roadmap for either Britain or the EU. This will be a complicated negotiation and will take some years, amid mounting domestic disquiet, both from those favouring exit and those preferring to remain. On the other side of the Atlantic, US President-elect Donald Trump has come under several controversies. Critics have pointed out contradictions in his statements. Scholars also say that it's not easy to draw definite conclusions about the President-elect's views on foreign relations.

The discussion will examine the several issue around Brexit, the world and Donald Trump.

Krishnan Srinivasan is a retired diplomat, scholar, author, former Indian Foreign Secretary, and Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations. He has been a fellow at the universities of Cambridge, Leiden and Uppsala. He is a regular columnist and book reviewer for The Statesman and The Telegraph.

Sunanda K. Datta-Ray is a journalist, columnist and author. He has been editor of The Statesman and has written for the International Herald Tribune and Time. He was Editor-in-Residence at the East-West Center in Honolulu and editorial consultant to Singapore's The Straits Times.

Anup Kumar Sinha is a former professor of economics at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. He has a wide ranging teaching and research experience at various institutes and universities.
