The inherent essence of BIMSTEC in integrating the region as a unit of growth and opportunities is upheld to a large extent by the ‘People-to People Contact’ pillar. With an attempt to rationalise and reorganise culture, tourism and people to people linkages, as three specific sub-sectors, this dimension has been instrumental in appropriating deeper engagements at the grassroot level for creating mutual trust for better cooperation. Whether such aspirated representation and participation among the members through a more personalised interaction would be able to leverage better liaison among the other sectors, is a discussion that requires attention. Similarly, the identification of the best practices of every member in the aforesaid three subsections is an important tool of confidence building measure to strengthen regional solidarity.
