
Fernando Brancoli is Associate Professor of International Security and Geopolitics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He was a Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (2021–2023) and is currently a Program Fellow at the Governance and Local Development Institute at the University of Gothenburg. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Security in Context project and has been an Associated Researcher at the Orfalea Centre for Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, since 2015. His work bridges academic research, policy consulting, and public engagement, with a focus on transnational security dynamics, political violence, extractive frontiers, and emerging configurations of power in the Global South. He is also an alumnus of the Asian Forum on Global Governance (2014).
