UNFCCC side event on Action on super pollutants for climate and health

Climate change represents the most critical global health threat of our time, with human and planetary health intricately connected. This event will focus on the urgent need to evolve a multi-level governance for action on climate and health, especially in cities. In addition to impacts of global climate change on health, super pollutants—specifically black carbon and tropospheric ozone—which play a significant role in global warming and contribute to climate tipping points. These super pollutants also have severe direct public health impacts, particularly in vulnerable communities. The event will spotlight actions taken by leading governments and intergovernmental organisations. Discussions will explore how national governments can integrate super pollutants into their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and consider the role of city-level policies.
