Realigning Green Transitions: An Indian Perspective on COP28 and the Global Stocktake

The G7, G20 and UNFCCC COP28 presidencies are held by Asian countries this year - Japan, India and UAE respectively - providing a spotlight on discussions around climate change, energy transition and finance.

COP28, which is scheduled to be held in November-December 2023, will be marked by the first Global Stocktake (GST) under the Paris Agreement. With the objective of identifying gaps in climate action and commitments, the GST is likely to be a consequential moment with the potential for course correction.

India has already taken a leadership role to advance the agenda on the reform of the financial institutions. It also has ambitions to become an important cog in the global energy transition and is keen to piece together inter-governmental consensus to accelerate the shift to low-carbon energy.

Climate Trends and Observer Research Foundation (ORF) invite you to a discussion on these issues.
