Perceptions of Bangladesh in the US and the Jamaat-e-Islami problem

Bangladesh is an important state in South Asian geopolitics, economics, and security architectures. The recent quasi-revival of the Jamaat-e-Islami in the country’s popular politics raises questions on the trajectory of the upcoming elections in 2024 and Dhaka’s relations with the United States, which has been brought up in the run up. This event with Mr Clifford Smith will shine some light on these regional and trans-national modalities of Bangladeshi politics, and more specifically, how these developments are seen from an American lens.

This is an in-person event.
