The Mumbai Metro Line 3 – Student Competition is a collaborative brainchild floated by ORF – MMRCL in order to give stimulus to students from across the city, to come up with innovative station area planning / management ideas. In the august presence of the members from MMRCL, ORF, student fraternity and representatives from the private sectors, the competition was launched on 21st June, 2019.  A total of 52 teams participated and submitted their plans which were analyzed by jury members – comprising experts from ORF – MMRCL – who shortlisted 16 teams for the finals.

These 16 teams had the opportunity of presenting their detailed plans, designs and ideas in front of eminent jury comprising of industry experts like Mr. R. Ramana, Executive Director (Plg.), MMRCL, Mr. Vivek Sahai, Distinguished Fellow, ORF, Mr. Ratan Batliboi, Founder – Director, Ratan J. Batliboi Consultants, Ms. Prachi Merchant, Senior Urban Planner, All India Institute of Local Self – Government and Ms. Rejeet Mathews, Head, Urban Development, WRI Ross Centre.

These students were assessed on multiple aspects like, Data collection and Analysis, Pedestrianisation & Non-Motorised Transport Integration, Creation of Public Spaces/Alternate Entertainment Zones & Integration of Open Spaces with Station Areas to name a few among other.  After two days of intellectual and creative exchange, the jury has finally come out with the list of winners, who shall be felicitated during this Grand Finale.
