India-Taiwan cooperation: New vistas for foreign policy

This year, Lai Ching-te of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) won the presidential election, making it the third consecutive win for the DPP. In India, PM Narendra Modi wrested a third term in office. President Lai wished PM Modi following the electoral victory, which the Indian premier warmly responded too. Both leaders pledged to deepen economic and technology cooperation. Under an agreement for labour mobility, the first set of Indian labourers will join the workforce in Taiwan by next year. Indian and Taiwanese corporates are tying up to set up plants for production of semiconductors. India recently giving its third-highest civilian award to Taiwan tech major, Foxconn, to Young Liu is testimony to the growing Indian-Taiwan technology cooperation.
