France and India have emerged as the closest strategic partners in recent years, with a bourgeoning defence and security collaboration providing a strong anchor of stability and boosting their strategic autonomy. Covering a wide range of operational as well as industrial cooperation in the air, on and under the sea, in space, and cyberspace, this partnership has soared with visits by President Emmanuel Macron to India in 2018 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to France in 2022. This robust bilateral collaboration also augurs well for the stability and sustainable development of the Indo-Pacific. While some actors attempt to spread instability, India and France are committed to defending a free, open, and rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region.
