As Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull launches new laws to check foreign interference into the country’s domestic politics, the re-emergence of the India, Japan, US, Australia ‘Quadrilateral’ forum has opened new geopolitical questions for the larger Indo-Pacific region on checking China’s rising influence. This follows Canberra’s release of its foreign policy white paper, which recognises the challenging global environment and focuses on “opportunity”, “security” and “strength”.

The event will examine the issue of Chinese influence in Australia and its implications on the ‘Quad’ and beyond.

H.H.S Viswanathan, Distinguised Fellow, ORF, will deliver the opening and closing remarks.
