A Book Discussion | Dharma and Policy: Ethics, Economics, Sustainability

Dharmanomics  (Bloomsbury, 2024) by Sriram Balasubramanian seeks to present a coherent and structured economic framework based on the idea of dharma as it has been understood and applied for at least 1500 years.

The book explores economic models across the Saraswati-Sindhu civilization and Common Era kingdoms and empires; studies dharma as a key interface for economic policy; and suggests that Bharatiya rulers may have made a series of policy prescriptions that were far ahead of their time.

The event at ORF will bring together experts from the fields of economics, political theory, management and mythology to discuss how the principle of dharma influences Indian policymaking even today.
