Farhan Shaikh is a development professional storyteller and writer whose diverse research interests stem from his liberal arts background. He studied statistics and data science at NMIMS University for his undergraduate degree and brings a strong interdisciplinary research experience in both quantitative and qualitative studies. As a development professional he has engaged with multiple types of stakeholders including philanthropic foundations NGOs and governments. After working with Teach for India in multiple capacities he joined the Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University in 2018. Since 2019 he has been working at Sattva Consulting and facilitating impact across diverse sectors such as education healthcare gender livelihoods agriculture and informal workers welfare.Farhan was involved in theatre poetry and creative fiction writing throughout his university education. He continues to study fiction as a medium to express the state of human condition and critique contemporary issues including poverty exclusion education modernity ecological change and migration issues. His recent works include a published collection of stories calledThe Self in Our Timesand various nonfiction pieces on topics of education gender and philosophy. He designs and conducts storytelling workshops for children in primary and secondary grades so far in collaboration with nonprofit organisations like Delek Foundation and Teach for India.
