Spending more than 34 years as a Public Servant as an officer of the Indian Administrative Service he has had ’hands on’ experience of International Trade, Investment Promotion, Overseas Investments, International Contracts, Dynamics of Petroleum Sector and Environmental issues, especially Climate Change. He has been closely associated with major policy and regulatory initiatives in the domain of trade, energy and environment for more than 15 years by virtue of his having occupied key positions in the Ministries of Commerce, Petroleum & Natural Gas and Environment & Forests. He has also been Chairman, Central Pollution Control Board. He has spent over five years as Director on the Board of major Public Sector Undertakings such as ONGC, OVL and OIL. Following his retirement he was associated with climate change negotiations and was a member of several Central Government Committees. He is Permanent Invitee to the Governing Council of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, for the period 2012-2017. From July 2013 onwards, he is an Independent Director on the Board of Directors of SAIL, a premier Central Public Sector Enterprise.

Mr Anand has also served at the South African Embassy in Bern Switzerland between 2006 and 2010 he has held a variety of regional portfolios during his diplomatic career and he has also participated and attended a large number of international conferences and meetings. Mr Anand has written extensively on key strategic and policy issues.

He has authorednumerous publications on the relationship between technology innovation and national power. His current research examines international security and governancein cyberspace the geopolitics of innovation the future of warfare and the effect of the internet on politics.

James Batchik is an associate director at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center, where he supports programming on the European Union, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Three Seas Initiative, and the Center’s transatlantic digital and tech portfolio.

Batchik was previously an intern and project assistant at the Atlantic Council’s Future Europe Initiative. He also held internships at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, the US Congress, and the US Consulate in Vladivostok, Russia.

Batchik received an MSc with distinction from the London School of Economics & Political Science in theory and the history of international relations. He received a BA from the University of Michigan in international studies, history, and Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies.

Jan Hornat is the Head of the Department of North American Studies at Charles University in Prague. In his research he focuses mainly on transatlantic relations and the perceptions of democracy in the US and the EU. He has published in academic journals such as Communist and Post-Communist Studies Cambridge Review of International Affairs Global Affairs and The National Interest and monographs with Routledge Palgrave Macmillan and Charles Univeristy Press. He is also researcher within the Peace Research Center Prague and a member of the "VirusImpact" team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic which examines the geopolitical impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past he was Head of Unit at the Department of European Programs of the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic.
