Shairee Malhotra
Shairee Malhotra is Deputy Director - Strategic Studies Programme at the Observer Research Foundation.
Her areas of work include Indian foreign policy with a focus on EU-India relations, European foreign policy, European politics both at EU and member state level, and India’s relations with France, Germany, UK, Nordics, CEE region and other European countries.
Shairee has several years of experience working in Brussels - the headquarters of the European Union, at the European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS), and the European External Action Service (EEAS) - the official foreign policy arm of the EU - where she was selected at a success rate of only 1% for non-EU nationals. In addition, she has experience of several global Fellowships.
Shairee also served as Coordinator for the T20 Taskforce on Reformed Multilateralism during India’s G20 presidency, and as Co-Chair for the T20 taskforce on Multilateralism and Global Governance for Brazil’s G20 presidency. She has been awarded as a top 40 under 40 EU-India Leader by the Europe India Centre for Business and Industry (EICBI), and is a founding member of WICCI’s India-EU Business Council. Her views have been widely published and cited in Indian and global media and academia such as Forbes, The Independent, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Economic Times, Caravan, Brussels Times, Internationale Politik Quarterly, Council on Foreign Relations, LSE South Asia Centre, Haaretz, among others. She is a regular foreign affairs commentator on Indian national television.
