India and Africa are old partners, but the development partnership has gained a new momentum in recent years. As the India-Africa partnership grows, it is important that it aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5, that firmly place women’s economic empowerment as a pre-requisite for their successful achievement. As we move forward, it is essential to address how women's equal and active participation can be encouraged in the areas of technology, finance, energy transitions, and sustainable development.

The conference is designed to explore prospects and opportunities of putting gender at the heart of the India-Africa development partnership. It seeks to bring together distinguished delegates from India and Africa to create a space for dialogue on women and work, to connect grassroots synergy to policy, to identify and address shared opportunities and challenges when running social enterprises, and to provide a networking platform for future collaboration and mutual learning.

The inaugural address of the event will be delivered by Mr. Amar Sinha, Secretary (ER), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
