Tamil diaspora

The Tamil diaspora has a chequered history, travelling in numbers, not only as labour to other colonies during the British rule — but a millennia ago — to Southeast Asia — as successful traders. As India opens up, the Indian diaspora is a soft-power that the nation can utilise, in building people-to-people contact, that can go a long way in bilateral ties and national interests.
