Date: Jan 28, 2016

2015 was a landmark year for the global architecture with the Financing for Development conference in Addis Ababa, the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals at the UNGA in New York, and the climate agreement at COP21 in Paris, all taking place within six months of each other. The three conferences took stock of the development paradigm of the past decade and a half, and looked to prepare a road-map for the next fifteen years and beyond. A key feature of these conferences was that civil society organizations and other non-governmental voices played an important part in shaping their outcomes. It is in this context that we gather to discuss and deliberate how India’s national interest can be aligned with these international agreements, and the roleorganizations outside the government machinery can play to help India carve a space for itself. The keynote address will be given by Ms. Sujata Mehta, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India

This session is part of the launch of the Global Go To Think Tank Index 2015, the ninth annual event organized by the ThinkTanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania to acknowledge the important contributions of thinktanks worldwide. TTCSP can be found here.
