Talk by Larry Diamond

Larry Diamond is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. His sixth and most recent book, In Search of Democracy, explores the challenges confronting democracy and democracy promotion, gathering together three decades of his work on democratic development, particularly in Africa and Asia.

This interaction will discuss the increasing trend of democratic recession and simultaneous rise of populism, nationalism and radicalism we witness today globally — from Athens to Ankara, Brussels to Brasilia. Is the liberal democratic order in a free fall? What can be done to address some of these trends?
