Talk by Paul Simons, Deputy Executive Director, International Energy Agency

Gaining access to energy resources and improving energy security is a key concern for a nation’s growth and development objectives. However, changes in the global political environment, such as the US decision to re-impose sanctions on Iran, could impede access to energy-rich nations and push global prices for both oil and natural gas. In addition to this, concerns regarding climate change are encouraging countries to transition to alternative sources of energy which are renewable, efficient and have lower emissions intensity.

This talk will discuss these varying dynamics and seek to discuss new and innovative solutions for enhancing energy security for both India and the world.
