The Jakarta Futures Forum is a leading platform that convenes international leaders, policymakers, and experts to advance dialogue on shared priorities and chart strategic pathways for regional and global cooperation, with a particular emphasis on the evolving India-Indonesia partnership. The forum was inaugurated in 2024, setting the foundation for robust discussions on maritime security, economic collaboration, and sustainable development in the Indo-Pacific region. Building on this momentum, the second edition, titled “Securing Seas, Strengthening Cooperation,” was held on 5–6 August 2025 in Jakarta. Co-hosted by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), India, and the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Indonesia, the forum brought together representatives from governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector, civil society, and the startup ecosystem to facilitate high-level discussions on maritime security, resilient trade, climate action, technological innovation, and inclusive development. Indonesia’s rise as a major global actor—underscored by its leadership in ASEAN and the G20, strategic geographic position, and robust economic growth—is paralleled by its deepening ties with India, founded on historical connections and aligned strategic interests. As both nations pursue enhanced regional stability—marked by expanding defense, energy, digital, and climate collaborations—the Jakarta Futures Forum serves as an essential platform for fostering multilateral cooperation, promoting a rules-based Indo-Pacific order, and exemplifying the synergy between two of Asia’s most dynamic democracies.
