The Singularity: The Future of Man and Machine

Professor Shivaji Sondhi is Wykeham Professor of Physics at the University of Oxford. An alumnus of Delhi University and UCLA, he has earned global acclaim for unravelling the mysteries of the quantum world. From his pioneering work on skyrmions in the quantum Hall effect to the co-discovery of magnetic monopoles in spin ice, Prof. Sondhi has consistently pushed the boundaries of human understanding. His contributions to cutting-edge concepts like time crystals have reshaped how we perceive time and matter.

Over the years, he has been celebrated with numerous prestigious accolades, including the Euro physics Prize, Sloan Fellowship, and Humboldt Research Award. He has played a pivotal role at institutions like Princeton University, where he co-founded the Princeton Centre for Theoretical Science, and continues to shape the future of physics as a leading mind at Oxford’s Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics.

His talk will guide us through the riveting intersection of man and machine, offering glimpses into a future where artificial intelligence, human ingenuity, and quantum science converge.
