The India – Nepal relationship has grown consistently over the past two decades, moving forward on critical components of the bilateral such as investments, people to people contacts and strategic cooperation. India’s presidency of the G20 grouping in 2023 offers a big canvas to further ties between the two countries, specifically on issues such as economy, trade, investment, security, health, technology, agriculture and so on. The 2023 presidency of India, along with the recently concluded conference on Global South gives the Nepal – India bilateral another avenue to cooperate on multilateral forums.
From 10th-20th December, 2023, the Observer Research Foundation will be hosting the first edition of the interaction programme with Young Leaders from Nepal. The programme seeks to provide a platform for young Nepali leaders to gain insights into various undergoing transformations, and network and familiarise themselves with Indian policymaking circles and the civil society. This will deepen the cooperation between the peoples and government of the two countries and familiarise the delegates with India’s economy, society and polity.
