From Policy to Practice: Strengthening Urban Climate Action Through Multilevel Governance and Partnerships
The discussion brings together practitioners, policymakers, and researchers to examine how cities can accelerate climate action by bridging the gap between high-level policy commitments and on-ground implementation. Through two interconnected expert roundtable discussions, the programme will explore how coordinated governance, shared responsibilities, and strategic partnerships can enable cities to deliver climate solutions that are both impactful and inclusive.
Roundtable 1 - Climate Action in Cities: Bridging Policy and Practice
This roundtable will highlight the importance of national and subnational integration in enabling local implementation. The discussions will focus on strengthening city-level urban climate action through partnerships and on exploring how high-level climate plans can be translated into effective on-the-ground implementation. While drawing on Mumbai as a reference point, the discussions will explore insights relevant across urban contexts, emphasising coordination across governance levels and facilitating collaborative efforts to deliver locally grounded, inclusive outcomes.
Roundtable 2: The Role of Multilevel Governance in Climate Action
This roundtable discussion brings in real-world examples to inspire solution thinking and help participants adapt proven approaches to India's urban context. What examples from other cities or states demonstrate effective climate action implementation? What elements of these approaches could be adapted to Mumbai's context and those of other cities in India? What practical solution pathways emerge from these learnings?
