'Kashmir As I See It' is a personal journey interspersed with geopolitical analysis of the state, highlighting the stories of trauma and betrayal faced by Kashmiris involved in one of the most long-standing disputes of India's post-independence era. Ashok Dhar carefully uncovers multiple layers of the conflict to show that apart from being a territorial dispute, it is also about historicity, morality and leadership - aspects that have been neglected so far. Looking merely at the legality of the state's accession would not guarantee peace unless the meaning of Kashmiriyat is examined. Rigorously researched and passionately honest, the book shows us a way to look for solutions that are not merely reflective, but practical. Tools extracted from management studies, such as game theory, are used as radical approaches to open a new window of inquiry in resolving an age-old issue.
Ashok Dhar has over thirty-five years of experience in the Energy Sector. He is a member of the Energy Institute in London, a Visiting Distinguished Fellow at Observer Research Foundation and the founding director of its Kolkata chapter.
