Building Bridges: Mitigating the North-South Divide
The IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs (SPEGA) and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) are pleased to announce the second edition of the Raisina-IE Global Student Challenge. The goal of the Challenge is to engage future leaders in global governance discussions, while honing their critical thinking and communication skills, to help them become drivers of transformation and change.
The Raisina-IE Global Student Challenge is organised within the framework of the Raisina Dialogue, India’s flagship platform on geopolitics and geoeconomics held annually in New Delhi. The 2025 edition involves the participation of 60 top Schools of Government and Global Affairs from across eight regions (Asia Pacific, South Asia, Central Asia/Caucasus, MENA, Africa, North America, Latin America, and Europe).
To that end, IE and ORF have created inter-university and inter-regional teams, thereby fostering bridges between top academic institutions from diverse geographical regions. The Challenge will run between February 10-March 20, with four weeks conducted virtually prior to the Raisina Dialogue and a one-week immersive experience in India during the Raisina Dialogue.
The theme for this year’s Challenge focuses on “Building Bridges: Mitigating the North-South Divide”, with two cases focusing on multilateralism and the digital divide. Students will be assigned to one of 12 different teams each guided by an Academic Advisor and have four weeks to tackle the cases they are assigned and propose actionable solutions. Each team will work online on their cases in the lead up to the Raisina Dialogue and prepare a presentation to showcase during Day 2 of the Raisina Dialogue (March 18).
An international jury composed of renowned experts from the Raisina Dialogue will deliberate and select two winning teams, one representing each case, who will be awarded a prize.
