Dr. Sunil Vilasrao Gitte is Director at the National Institute of Public Health Training and Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. A public health physician trained in Preventive and Social Medicine and hospital administration, he has more than two decades of experience across disease control, epidemiology, training, and health systems strengthening. Over the course of his career, he has held leadership roles in the Directorate General of Health Services, the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, and regional public health and training institutions, with a strong focus on leprosy, vector-borne diseases, fluorosis, surveillance, and programme implementation. He has published widely in public health and has contributed to research, training, and field investigations across multiple states, particularly in Chhattisgarh.
