Lucy Corkin has a PhD in politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Her doctoral research — Uncovering African Agency: Angola’s management of China’s credit lines — has been published in both English and Portuguese. In 2012, She joined Rand Merchant Bank, the investment banking arm of the FirstRand Group, Africa’s largest financial institution by market capitalisation. She is currently Business Manager for RMB Africa, RMB’s African operations outside of South Africa. Lucy is an avid traveller and linguist. She speaks English, Afrikaans, Portuguese, French and Mandarin.
