This workshop will identify and analyse the scope of China’s current efforts to modernise its armed forces. The key areas of discussion will include:

  • Direction of China’s increasing military capabilities,
  • Challenges that China will confront in the near and long-term future, and
  • Military implications of China’s current military modernisation to the defence and security of its immediate neighbours, particularly India.
