Understanding the Armed Forces Special Powers Act

Among the applications of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), is to bring law and order responsibilities under a common command in order to avoid overlapping of security responsibilities. While it has helped in keeping situations under control, there have been criticisms about its unending application in some regions. In recent years, there has been much resentment against the Act and political opinion on the issue is divided. This event will explore the many aspects of AFSPA and look into the levels of its deployment.
