H.E. Dr. Hassan Rouhani is the seventh President of Iran, serving since 3 August 2013. He holds a doctorate in law and education in the Qom Seminary as an ijtihad; represents the Supreme Leader in the National Security Council, member of the Expediency Council, Tehran People's Representative in the Assembly of Experts Leader and Head of the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency.
Dr. Rouhani was deputy speaker of the fourth and fifth terms of the Parliament of Iran and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council from 1989 to 2005. In the latter capacity, he was the country's top negotiator with the EU three, UK, France, and Germany, on nuclear technology in Iran.
