India-Bangladesh Connectivity: A Year after Modi’s Visit

Keeping in mind the historical and civilisational ties of India and Bangladesh and their geographic proximity, ORF-Kolkata undertook a year-long study on India-Bangladesh connectivity, using extensive field visits and interviews with relevant stakeholders. The findings of the study were collated in a report, titled, India-Bangladesh Connectivity: Possibilities and Challenges, and released just before the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh — a visit that is generally described as momentous. The ORF-Kolkata report included both short and long-term policy recommendations for both governments. This Special Report examines the bilateral developments since Modi’s visit to Bangladesh and relates them with the policy recommendations that were articulated in the 2015 project report.
