Ashok Dhar is Director of ORF's Kolkata chapter and has been steering its activities since it moved to its own campus in Rajarhat.In his over three decades of service in Energy sector, Ashok has held wide ranging roles in General Management, International Trading, Strategic and Policy Planning, Mergers and Acquisitions, Marketing and Technical Services in India, Middle East and Africa. He has served in Leadership roles with a Fortune 500 Oil company in public sector, Fortune 500 Oil Company in multinational sector and Fortune 500 Company in private sector. He superannuated from Reliance Industries Limited as President in Refinery and Marketing sector of Petroleum business.He is on the Board of Directors of Gulf Africa Petroleum Corporation (GAPCO), Mauritius which is the holding company of GAPCO subsidiaries in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and Akarosi Pvt. Ltd., a business and management services company, focusing on Energy Sector.Ashok, a Chemical Engineer, is a Member of Energy Institute, London and Member of Refinery Forum of Petroleum Federation of India. He has served as member of Auto Fuel Policy & Vision 2025 of the Government of India, Petroleum Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards and many other Industry Committees.He is widely travelled and has addressed World Fuels Conference in Singapore, Dubai, Beijing, Houston, San Francisco, San Diego, etc., to help create better understanding of issues facing Energy sector in developing economies. He has been associated with ORF activities in Energy sector since 2005 and has played a key role in preparing ORF policy briefing papers and sharing views during focus group meetings on topical issues from time to time.
