Reflections on UN Security Council Resolution 1701

Following four weeks of intense fighting between Israeli and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon, the UN Security Council, on 11 August 2006, passed a ceasefire resolution - UNSC Resolution 1701 - calling for the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon and Israel. All three parties to the conflict (Israel, Hezbollah, and the Lebanese Government) have since then accepted the terms and conditions of the Resolution.
