Mufti Abdul Hannan, the arrested leader of the banned Islamist militant outfit Harkatul Jihad al Islami (Huji), confessed that Huji operatives had attacked poet Shamsur Rahman with the intent to kill him on Hanan's orders about eight years ago.

The Dhaka High Court stayed on November 25 the operation of a notice of Bangladesh's elite Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) asking detained former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to submit her wealth statement.
