Studies and Initiatives
Observer Research Foundation (ORF) is engaged in a series of research studies and initiatives in different vital areas of national concern with the objective of making serious policy recommendations. Though ORF?s approach to understanding of issues is holistic and multi-disciplinary, for the sake of convenience three broad areas of initiatives and study have been defined and these are International Initiatives, Security Studies and National Initiatives.
ORF addresses major issues of international relations, national security and domestic affairs by constituting task forces to study the various aspects of a particular issue or conduct a research study in a specific area and share its findings among peers and publishing it as a book or a monograph.
Within the umbrella of these programmes, several interactions with scholars and visiting dignitaries are also arranged for the benefit of academics, strategists and policymakers. These are held usually in a cordial atmosphere of informality and the participants feel free to engage with one and another and the outcome is often published as a policy brief or issue brief. In the following pages a description of the focus and activities under the three broad thrust areas are detailed.
